It is not oftenone can climb onto the back of an African Elephant and set off at an easyrolling pace in search of other wild game; wild elephant, giraffe, buffalo andmuch more. This is an elephant ‘experience’ and the guides are highly trainedexperts in the behaviour of elephants and the wildlife around them.
Zambia
½ day trails areavailable both in the morning and afternoon.
The trails beginat Thorntree Lodge in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park which is an attractivelodge overlooking the Zambezi River. On arrival, a short introductory talk andsafety-briefing guests are introduced to the elephants and their handlersbefore mounting the great animals. The handler and no more than two guests oneach animal then head off through the riverine bush.
Safaris in themorning last about 3 and half hours and end with tea/coffee/cordial drinks andthe opportunity to view a video of each guest’s elephant ride. The priceincludes transfers, tea, coffee and cordial drinks. Pick-up from the DayActivity Centre is at 06h30, with drop off at approximately 10h30 hours.
The afternoonsafaris go on for about 3 and half hours with soft drinks at the end of the dayand the opportunity to view a video of each guest’s elephant ride. The priceincludes transfers, tea, coffee and cordial drinks. Pick-up from the DayActivity Centre is at 14h30, with drop off at approximately 18h30 hours.
At the end ofthe ride, guests are brought back to the Elephant Boma to dismount and interactwith the elephants on the ground giving the guides an opportunity to make aninteresting and informative explanation about the African Elephant and theirrelationship with man.
